At Klocker’s
we believe that it’s up to hometown businesses to
make the contributions that better a community. We
are proud to know that our family has
been providing this service to our community here in
Pierre for 40 years.
In 1936, Al and Dorothy
Klocker opened a small furniture store in Hoven.
They closed the Hoven store in 1970 and joined their
son Jerry and his wife Sharon, who had opened a
furniture store in Pierre in 1967. As Pierre grew,
Klocker’s grew with it to accommodate the needs of
central South Dakota. A second showroom was added
to the building located at 765 E. Sioux Ave., in
1974. After purchase of the warehouse in 1998, the
basement was converted into yet another showroom in
1999.
Klocker Furniture offers
a wide variety of brands such as La-Z-Boy, Flexsteel,
Sealy, Broyhill, Karastan, Lane, Tempur-Pedic, and
Italsofa in their showrooms.
Zeb, who is now the
third generation of Klockers in the family business,
said that they personally do all the buying so
customers receive hand-picked quality and style.
“The customer is the boss and what they want we
get.” Jerry said that he has always enjoyed the
freedom to make personalized buying decisions. In
order to get what the customer wants, Jerry, Zeb and
their staff make an annual trip to the World Market
Center in Las Vegas, N.V. We also purchase lamps
and accessories from the Chicago and Dallas
furniture markets. Customer service is No. 1 with
us. We like to give our customers the unique looks
they desire. We also offer a free home decorating
service, providing consultations that help the
customer feel more comfortable about their interior
design decisions.
For over 70 years,
customer service has been a priority at Klocker’s
because we know it is the key to success. To be
successful, one has to have a passion for their
work, and at Klocker’s, we work hard to get it
right, from sales to delivery and after. The
quality of merchandise, having hard-working
employees who are experienced, informed and
committed, and striving to do our best to make
shopping at Klocker’s an enjoyable experience are
three things that are very important in our
business. Our employees are one of the store’s
best assets, and we have more than 120 years of
combined experience. It’s fun to do business with
people who know what they are doing. |
